Regional Workshop “Implementation of Integrated Drought Management (IDM): Challenges and Solutions” – Tehran, Iran (8-10 October 2025)

A regional workshop on “Implementation of Integrated Drought Management (IDM): Challenges and Solutions” was convened in Tehran from 8-10 October 2025. The event was organized by UNESCO’s Regional Centre on Urban Water Management (RCUWM-Tehran) and the International Drought Initiative (IDI), in collaboration with the Iran Meteorological Organization (IRIMO) and with contributions from the Integrated Drought Management Programme (IDMP).

The workshop aimed to strengthen regional collaboration and capacity on drought management, and covered the following topics:

1. Introduction to Integrated Drought Management (IDM)

2. Country Reports on the Status of IDM

3. Drought Monitoring and Early Warning Systems

4. Drought Risk and Impact Assessment

5. Drought Risk Mitigation, Preparedness and Response
