Help & Guidelines for the Flux Database

In this page you will find the frequently asked questions and small guides to be able to use the database at 100% of its possibilities.

Is the registration mandatory?
Yes, it is.

How can I register to the database?
First of all, you need to create an account by clicking on the button herebelow and then you willl have to wait for its approval by the staff. You will receive a first email with this subject: "Account waiting for approval".

Once one of our staff activates it, you will receive a second email, with subject "Account details for USERNAME approved". PLEASE, READ IT CAREFULLY. You will find a link that can be used only one time, to access the site and choose your password.

Now I'm registered. What's next?
Our staff will verify you information and will assign to your user, every existing site that already belongs to you. From now on, you can login to the database from the upper menu by clicking on "Existing user login".

In "My Sites" I cannot find a site that belongs to me. What can I do?
First of all, click on "Sites list" in the top menu. Find your site here. If it is there, then simply ask to link the site to your user. If it's not there, click on "Add new site" and fill in all the fields of the form. Our staff will check it and then it will be added to your list.

How can I add a new measurement?
There are two methods. The first one described, is copying an old measurement to use the same values and avoid rewriting everything from the beginning. The second one, will be inserting a new measurement from zero.
Using a template:
In the menu bar, go to "My Sites", click on the code of the site you need and wait for the list of measurement to be shown. In the last column, click on "Use this as a template". You will have a new measurement with all the fields already populated based on the values of the chosen one. Change the fields you need navigating through the menus, and then hit the "Save" button at the end of the page.
Not using a template:
Click on the menu item "Add new measurement" and insert the site ID by writing the first letters of it (e.g. Koj will display AU-Koj). Then fill in all the fields navigating through the menus. At the end, click on the "Save" button at the end of the page.

What does the red asterisk on the fields mean?
It means that the field you're filling, is mandatory.

Which convention is used for language and punctuation?
The whole site uses US English (American) as main language for texs and nomenclatures. Check the spelling before uploading any new measurement.
As for the numbers, the database uses the dot for decimal values, comma for thousand separator and comma for lists separators.

How can I know which kind of data I should put in a field?
Usually, at the bottom of the field, there is an explanation. Follow the instruction in every field (numbers 0-9, select list, point for decimals and so on).
